i'm back! i've finally given in and moved back to the one and only las vegas. it's so good to be back home, there are so many things i have missed here. it's especially nice to be closer to my family. as much as the last seven years have flown by, the absence of my family in my daily life has been truly missed! to me, the memories and the comfort of a home base are things that can't be recreated. even the smell of the air during this time of year makes me feel like i'm back where i belong.
that being said, the weeks leading up to my decision to move weren't exactly easy! i had created a life in arizona and it was kind of a scary thought to just leave it all behind. i had all the things i was supposed to have but it wasn't what i really wanted. and at the end of the day i knew it was time to make a change. someone once told me, "why give up 50% of something to have 100% of nothing?" my response, "i'd rather have 100% of nothing than be miserable with my 50%". so here i am... ready for a new beginning, a fresh start, and an adventure that has been long awaited.

mistakes are the portals of discovery

my, oh my, have things changed! the past couple of years have been eye-opening to say the least. after turning 25 last january and surviving my first (quarter) life crisis, i now realize there really was nothing to be afraid of. i always thought my early twenties would be a time for discovery; full of excitment, care-free days, and never-ending parties(if i'm being honest, the majority of it was a party) but as i approached 25 i suddenly felt this sense of panic. i knew 25 wasn't OLD, but i started to realize that the past several years i wasn't r e a l l y satisfied with my search for "self discovery". i had a lot to be grateful for.. but at 25, i knew something was missing. i started to reflect on where 20,21,22,23, and 24 had gone. i had completed most of my education, traveled through europe, endured a rough heart break, settled and made a brand new place my home, made new friends, and learned some things the hard way. i was grateful for all the things i had learned about myself, but it wasn't enough. i was so focused on what i didn't have rather than what i did have.

after several months of hard work and some humble pie, i realize now instead of "my plan" unfolding perfectly and getting everything i thought i wanted, i now recognize how everything in my life was perfectly put together for me: the many people who crossed my path that helped me become who i am today, the roadblocks, the trials and let-downs along the way that have made me a stronger, smarter, and a more motivated individual. instead of "my plan", i have a whole new perspective on life, a better relationship with my family, a new appreciation for true friends, and a work ethic that i never thought i would attain. one thing i will never forget about arizona is life usually never goes according to "your plan".. so when it doesnt- embrace it. because really, it may not be "your plan" but the alternative may be better than you could have imagined.

WHAT?! it's true, chelsea is prego! i knew this day was coming soon but when it arrived i almost couldn't believe it. she sent me a picture message of the pee stick that read: pregnant (with the two red lines and all). if i didn't have the visual i think it might have taken a bit more persuasion on her part to believe it! i can't wait to meet the little thing...secretly, i think it will be a girl, but what do i know?! can't wait to find out! i'm so happy for her and aaron, i know they will be amazing parents. beto and baby watch out... here comes your competition!!!
so, when i was in vegas for my spring break, i went with chels to get her blood drawn. she needed some moral support/a hand to squeeze tight, so i gladly tagged along. she hates the whole needle in the arm thing, who doesn't right?! but she was so brave even when the nurse had to poke her three times because she couldn't find the vain. poor chels. afterwards, tropical smoothie made it all better! what a trooper!

I'M BACK!
happy new year! the first thing on my new year's resolution list is to become a professional blogger and out blog all of you who don't think i blog enough. yeah right, impossible, i know.
but really...so far this year has been amazing. over winter break, i met my favorite nephew maddux and officially became auntie tee. i can't wait to watch him grow! spending christmas and new years in dc was awesome, i had missed miguel and alexis soo much. after the holidays, we flew back to vegas and i was able to see a few old friends from years past. it was awesome to reflect on the past five years and appreciate all of the experiences i've had. seeing those old faces made me realize how so much can change in such a short amount of time. after spending a month away from home, i was missing arizona! i was so excited to get back and start school. brooke drove back with me and hung out for a couple weeks, she helped me get settled back in and got to meet all my friends. we had a blast, just ask her. before she left we all celebrated my 24th birthday together. let the good times roll...

so its back to school. yikes, this summer went f a s t. im sad to say that after monday, i wont be able to sleep in till 11, lay by the pool, watch matinee movies, or sit on my computer sorting photos and browsing my favorite tunes. sad. its back to lots of reading, writing, studying, and sitting in class listening to endless hours of lectures.
but i really can't complain... i had a fantastic summer! barcelona, london, paris, dc, california, vegas.... who could ask for more? and i spent it with the best people i know! plus, i got the most amazing tan ive EVER had in my life. yeah, its true.
